Great for ragchewing and everyday usage.

I've had ic706mk1 since 2013, Now I use ic706mk2G. Both of them are best TRX for partly home/mobile usage. Ic706mk2g is much more universally because of having 70cm. Comparing to FT857... they are pretty much the same in RX and TX but IC706's have much better build quality, and menus that i like more. It's not the best radio ever, but i like it. I would buy it again:-)

It's OK...just

KA9MOT

I've owned 4 of these. I like the way they look, and they work OK, but the receiver is not all that good. Noise is the main issue. Would have been a great radio if the receiver was better.

This radio also gets hot. Even when receiving. 4 or 5 hours powered on and even the face plate gets warm.

First HF rig

KJ4VOV

This was my first HF rig, and is still my favorite. Crisp, clean audio on both transmit and receive, good filtering, excellent band coverage. What's not to love?

The only thing that would make it better is a DTMF mic, 220 xmit capability and a better computer programming interface.
